Abrazos Family Support Services: Family Infant Toddler Services

Families and children participate in a music group which helps the children to improve their listening, talking, movement and social skills.

Children participate in music group activities.

Siblings enjoy participating in intervention activities.

Parents and their children attend developmental play groups with other children and their parents.

Parents learn ways to stimulate their child’s development during play activities.

Children learn a variety of skills including pre-reading skills.

Families learn ways to help their children develop hand skills using toys that they already have in their home.

Intervention in the home means that families don’t have to drive to get services and can learn how to help their children during daily activities.

Early intervention staff travel to family homes where they teach parents ways to help their children learn during daily activities.

Staff celebrate graduation with children who have completed the program.

In play groups, parents learn ways to teach their children skills need for preschool.

Parents of children with visual impairments learn ways to teach their children to use their eyes for learning.

Physical therapists demonstrate methods to teach children to learn to walk.

Children with physical impairments sometimes need special shoes to help them when they start to walk independently.

Family Infant Toddler Services

Abrazos’ Family Infant Toddler Services are provided on a weekly basis, typically in the family’s home, child’s daycare or other community location.

Our services are individualized, family centered and coordinated with other medical, health and educational professionals to support the child’s health and development.

We are also a partner in Adaptech4Kids.org, a virtual equipment bank developed by three agencies working collaboratively to enhance services to children with disabilities and their families. Our goal is to combine our resources to make a variety of assistive and adaptive technology products available to families whose children receive our services.

Who is Eligible?

Children ages birth to three who:

Have a delay in their development or developmental disability
Are at-risk for developmental delay because of a health, medical or other at-risk condition

Families who:

Want information about child development, health and safety
Want to learn how to help their own child to learn and grow
